Neda Darzi
Neda Darzi, a painter, curator, and the founder of the Persbook Contemporary Art Biennial, was born on October 19, 1971, in Tehran. After academic studies in photography, tapestry, and ceramics, she expanded her experience to newer mediums such as video installation and public art. Neda Darzi has participated in 8 solo exhibitions and over 50 group exhibitions in Iran, Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, Finland, Sweden, Mexico, and Greece. Persbook is an annual event showcasing works of Iranian artists, both domestic and abroad, founded by Neda Darzi in 2009. Her first experience in collaborative curation was with Alice Stepanian in the project “Nietzsche Was a Man,” featuring video works of 19 Iranian artists exhibited from 2013 to 2015 in Mexico (Museo Ex Teresa Arte Actual), Sweden (Malmö Konsthall), and Finland (Pori Museum). Darzi’s art addresses universal concerns, and her curatorial work reflects similar engagements.
