The series of short films titled “The Embodiment of a Century” is a small step toward documenting the flow of Iranian visual arts over the past hundred years. This series attempts not only to introduce artists, as is customary in the compilation of encyclopedias, but also to provide an encyclopedic view of the visual arts scene in Iran over the past century. In a concise comparative analysis, it seeks to go beyond focusing solely on the life of an artist and also highlight significant events and artistic movements. This approach aims to give viewers a clearer picture of the ups and downs of cultural policy and artistic trends throughout the 14th century in the Iranian calendar. Each film addresses important events, key figures, artistic movements, the establishment of art universities, and the launch of galleries and art societies, offering a more precise portrayal of the artistic periods over the past hundred years. Together, these films form pieces of a puzzle that provide a relatively complete picture of the artistic movements in Iran.
